Macro Monday (on a weds): Tips for Getting a Good Sleep

Hey Friends,

Sorry I missed you on Macro Monday this week.
I've been having a hard time getting to bed early these days, and when this happens it throws off my entire schedule, and once that happens, my motivation and energy goes out the window. But I love you guys, and I'm back on track, so here it is, on a Wednesday!

I have been getting back to basics and following my own advice for good sleeping that I've read / gathered / tried out over the years.

MM: Tips for Sleeping Well

  1. Turn off electronics at least 1 hour before bedtime.

  2. No intense exercise before bed.

  3. Give yourself at least 3 hours after dinner before sleeping.

  4. Establish a routine: same bedtime every night, no matter what.

  5. Get outside or do some form of exercise during the day.

  6. If you are a caffeine drinker, make sure not to have any later on in the day.

  7. Create a bedtime routine - perhaps a bath, warm cup of tea, listening to music, or reading - anything you find relaxing, and make it into a ritual, so it signals your body to begin the winding down process.

  8. Don't keep electronics near your bed.

  9. Make sure your bedroom is sufficiently dark - consider blackout curtains if need be.

  10. Dim the lights in the house after dinner.

  11. Make sure the room temperature is just right - you don't want to be too hot, or too cold.

  12. Try to get to bed before midnight, it makes a big difference. 11pm is even better!
